CVD Consultancy  ·  Gravity-Based Engagement Model

Most events are designed around
what organisers need.
The people who actually show up
have completely different priorities.

When those two things are not designed to work together, value gets left on the table — every time. Footfall that doesn't convert. Sponsors that go unnoticed. Traders who don't see the benefit. Attendees who arrive, look around, and leave. The Gravity-Based Engagement Model was developed to solve this structural problem.

The Framework

What Is GBEM?

The Gravity-Based Engagement Model is a framework for designing live environments that intentionally attract people, guide how they move through a space, and convert their presence into meaningful outcomes for everyone in it — organisers, attendees, traders, sponsors, and communities alike.

People are attracted by one thing. But they create value through everything they experience afterwards. GBEM deliberately designs that journey.

Rather than designing from the organiser's objectives outward — and hoping attendees follow — GBEM reverses the logic. It designs from the attendee's experience inward, so that the organiser's objectives are delivered as a natural consequence of the experience itself, not in spite of it.

The result is environments where more people arrive, stay longer, engage more deeply, and deliver better outcomes across every stakeholder group simultaneously.

Academic & Research Foundation

GBEM draws on a synthesis of established thinking across multiple disciplines, each of which has independently identified how physical environments shape human behaviour and decision-making. These perspectives are brought together into a single, practical framework specifically designed for live environments.

Its foundations also include postgraduate-level research into placemaking and the regeneration of high streets and town centres as community hubs — work that directly informs how CVD approaches every activation, from a residential development courtyard to a public market square.

The Live Demonstration

CampervanDisco Is GBEM in Practice

CampervanDisco is not simply a mobile DJ platform. It is the working demonstration of GBEM in a real environment, with real audiences, and real measurable outcomes.

Every CVD activation is designed — not just performed. The campervan functions as the primary attractor that draws people into the environment. The surrounding space is structured to guide movement and engagement. And the organiser's objectives are delivered through that flow, not despite it.

Every booking generates applied evidence of how the model performs across different environments, audiences, and stakeholder objectives. CampervanDisco is the proof of concept that moves GBEM from theory into practice.
